Following the fire on Saturday 12th August at The Albion in Wimborne; we know that the fire started in an external compound separate from the property, however it is not clear at the moment what the cause of the fire was.
Our team acted superbly in getting everyone out of the building quickly and safely. We would like to thank Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service for their swift response and their immediate actions helped prevent the spread of the fire.
For the safety of our team and guests we have closed the Albion whilst we check for any damage and clean the rooms. We are working hard to get the bedrooms at The Albion open as soon as possible and hope to open the main body of the hotel this week with the ground floor rooms opening once we have established what works need to take place, we apologise for any inconvenience this causes our guests.
Further updates, including re-opening dates, will be posted on our Facebook page and website www.theolivebranchwimborne.co.uk.

Set in the centre of Wimborne, the 1777. Bedrooms & Breakfast at the Albion is a small inn offering accommodation to those wishing to explore the Dorset area, traveling on business or simply requiring a place to stop overnight.
The town of Wimborne has a rich history, boasting a growing arts scene, annual folk festival, and the local area's connection to novelist, Thomas Hardy.
Dating back to the 17th century, the Albion was the oldest of four coaching inns in the town - of which only two remain. Over the centuries it has housed both the magistrates' court, a school house, and was once a place of refreshment for King George III as he traveled to Weymouth. Today the inn provides accommodation only, now paired with its sister bar and restaurant, The Olive Branch, a stunning and relaxed dining experience just a few moments away, where we host our leisurely breakfasts.
Our inn has ten well-appointed, en-suite bedrooms, each a home away from home. Find out more about our bedrooms.
